Alternatively you can choose to do any of these day trips individually or mix and match. Contact us to tailor a package to your needs.
Day One - Your arrival and the Glenfern Sanctuary Guided Walk.
After taking a moment to get settled into your cottage and soak in the new surroundings, its time to explore your new back yard.
The Glenfern Sanctuary Guided walk takes you through some of the most beautiful forest Great Barrier Island has to offer. As an introduction to your visit on the island, your guide will not only show you through the sanctuary but also reveal to you many of the wonderous features to look our for over the next four days

Then, if relaxing on the balcony afterwards is not your cup of tea, there are some magnificent locals walks to discover, minutes from your door.
Day Two - Mt Hobson
The second day your are driven to the start of Palmers track to enter the magnificent Windy Canyon. Massive cliffs tower above you from both sides as you wind your way up to a spectacular lookout.
The track continues along the ridgeline with a short steep climb through original alpine kauri forest to the top of Mt Hobson for unimpeded views of the island, the Hauraki Gulf, and beyond.
The track then descends past one of the largest remaining kauri dams to the Kaiaraara Stream and on to Bush’s Beach where the spacious 12m cruising yacht Rainbow V is waiting with afternoon tea and drinks.
Then cruise back to Fitzroy House at whatever pace you desire.
Day Three - Kaitoke Hot Springs
On the third day we take you for a scenic drive down the island to start your walk from Whangaparapara Road. Over boardwalks and well made tracks through Kaitoke Wetlands you arrive at your first stop - the Kaitoke Hot Springs.
After a stop to soak in the stream, the track continues across a ridge and forks right to the old Forest Road. It follows the road to the junction with the Kiwiriki track and a sidetrack to Mt. Maungapiko.
After a magnificent view down the west coast, the track descends through regenerating kauri forest to Kiwiriki Bay where Rainbow is one again waiting for you with refreshments.
Then the afternoon and Rainbow are yours. To get a real "Barrier" experience you cant go past a sail over to visit the incomparable Sven Stellin at Barrier Gold in Wairahi Bay. Sven makes an impressive range of kanuka oil products on his humble property here which are second to none and exported all over the world.
Then perhaps a sunset sail with more refreshments on deck, back to your cottage through the sheltered beauty of Port Fitzroy...
Day Four - Local Walks or Kayaking
After your previous two big days, reward yourself by either sleeping in, taking one of our kayaks out in Port Fitzroy or taking a stroll along one of several local short walks.
Then, if you still feel like it, you can return to civilisation... (But we wont be surprised if you would like to book another night just to wind down!)
